Celebrities and Icons Tell All in New TV show this Fall 2011

This last week, I had the priveledge of screening the fall season opener of Icon News and I love what I see, so far! The show is hosted by Lew Marklin and is the first of it's kind to interview today's hottest celebrities, via skype from their living rooms, recording studios, Movie sets, or wherever a bubble cam might take them!
The show is very positive and boasts an international swim of celebrity and Iconic talent from all over the globe.
The first episode features Dominic Rains, a rising star who has crossed over from daytime TV (General Hospital) to film, with his major feature, Jinn, due out in theaters this year. The celeb was born in Tehran Iran, and changed his name to an American name. This is something I would not have known, because most of the mainstream Hollywood shows are not covering stars like Dominic, but rather beat around the 30 mile zone chasing the same played out celebrities that we see week in and week out on every show from TMZ, to Hollywood Insider, E, and every late night show.
Of course, I began following Marklin back in 2007, with his groundbreaking late night comedy news show, ADHDtv. The show was a cutting edge combination of Jon Stewart meets Saturday night live, and though not many have heard of the show, it got impressive ratings and nearly sent Marklin home with two Southwest Regional Emmy's in 2008, but was a bit much for the judges of mainstream staunch and straight laced news shows, of the time.
Marklin is back in a much more mainstream, grown up venue, with Icon News that is slated to air Prime Time on Dish Network this fall and is rumored to be in talks with Fox Network, as well.
Some of the expected celebs on Icon News this fall are Dominic Rains, Christina DeRosa, Ruth McCartney, Mycole Metcalf, Jenae Alt, Lil J, Georgia Van Cuylenburg, Laci Kay, Eric Roberts, James Woods, John Schneider, Roseanne Barr, Johanna Krupa, Susan Anton, George Wallace, Angelina Jolie and many others. The show is very grown up and very positive.
Marklin is very laid back in his approach to conducting interviews while pressing in for stories that help veiwers to understand their issues and to convey a strong message of overcoming and reaching your dreams. The show moves along pretty fast, and in this reporters opinion, Icon News is a must see this fall. In a fall lineup filled with high budget network productions, it is nice to see simple winning the race. It is a home grown show that is flying in from off the radar, and I think that this is exactly the kind of appeal, that will keep Icon News running for many seasons to come.
So far, there is only a few sneak peek clips available on You Tube, but I am sure that there is more to come shortly.
Now here is the fun part...because I like to dig a little, I found this fun little snap shot of Lew Marklin, as a wee little college intern, reporting for KEYT TV, a small local ABC affiliate, in Santa Barbara California, where Marklin attended college at SBCC and UCSB, but back then he was known as Lewis Marklin Mash a.k.a. Mark Mash! He looks like a baby. I bet his mom is so proud.
That's your inside scoop -
